Two bus accidents in Odisha; passengers injured in Jagatsinghpur, OSRTC bus hits truck in Koraput

Two separate bus accidents were reported in Odisha, one in Koraput district and another in Jagatsinghpur district.

While all passengers remained safe in the Koraput OSRTC bus mishap, more than 10 people were injured in the Jagatsinghpur incident, including three who were reported to be in critical condition.

OSRTC Bus Hits Truck in Koraput

In the first incident, an OSRTC bus collided with the rear of a truck at Semiliguda in Koraput district. The accident occurred at around 3 am on Monday. The bus was travelling from Visakhapatnam to Umerkote.

However, all passengers on board the bus remained safe, and no major injuries were reported in the incident.

Jagatsinghpur Accident

In another incident, a private passenger bus crashed into a house near Sampur Chhak in Jagatsinghpur district on Monday. More than 10 people were injured in the accident, including three who sustained critical injuries.

The injured persons were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

According to reports, the bus had been travelling from Paradip to Naugaon via Jagatsinghpur when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The bus veered off the road and rammed into a house near Sampur Chhak.

Manas, an eyewitness said, “The bus was approaching at full speed. The driver is not at fault; they are instructed to reach on time, which is why they drove fast. I was on my terrace when I saw the bus coming at around 70–80 kmph before it rammed into the house.”

He further added that around 40 passengers were on board, and an elderly person, who was critically injured, was shifted for treatment.
