Two arrested for ganja smuggling in Kandhamal

Phulbani: Continuing its crackdown on ganja smuggling, the Kandhamal police arrested two persons while they were smuggling the contraband items on two motorcycles in Gochhapada area of Kandhamal district last night.

The cops also seized 70 kgs ganja and two bikes from their possession.

Sources said the duo identified as Siddheswar Digal and Maharia Digal of Kumelsingh village was smuggling the cannabis on two motorcycles when the cops intercepted them on Kadampanga Ghati road. Later, the police recovered 70 kgs ganja from their possession. The police registered a complaint in this regard and forwarded the accused to court.

Last month, police had seized ganja weighing around 27 kg and arrested three persons after conducting raid in Baliguda area of the district.
