Two accused escape from custody, constable suspended

Two youths, identified as Sonu Singh (24) and Gobind Singh (25), escaped from Town Police Station here on the pretext of going to toilet, police said adding both were detained for interrogation.

The police picked up the duo when they were roaming near the local SBI in a suspicious manner. "We suspected their movement and picked up for interrogation," a policeman said.

They had given different address to the police.

While constable Jayanti Behera was placed under suspension, departmental inquiry will be conducted on the role of assistant sub-inspector P N Behera in the case, said Mayurbhaj SP Dayal Gangwar.
