Deogarh: Police today arrested a tuition teacher from Kundeigola of the district for sexually abusing at least five minor girls of the area on pretext of imparting 'special classes'.

As per reports, the accused Rabindra Sahu used to impart private tuitions for students of the village at his residence. He would take the girls to a different room in his house on pretext of ‘special classes’ and sexually abuse them there. Although some girls had disclosed the matter to their parents, none had come forward to register any complaint. Instead, they chose to quietly discontinue the tuitions for their girls.

However on Tuesday, Sahu abused another minor girl of the village following which her parents confronted him. Subsequently, other parents too came in support of the allegations and later lodged a complaint at the Keundeigola police station here, informed sources.

“We have arrested Sahu on the basis of complaints received by the parents. He had left his home after completing his +2 to join a certain religious outfit and had returned to the village only three years ago,” informed Ratnakar Malli , IIC, Kundeigola police station.

“Upon his return, Sahu had begun tuitions for students in his area. The victims have complained that he used to sexually abuse them in a separate room in his house. Although few of them had divulged it to their parents, they had preferred to remain silent fearing public embarrassment and shame,” said Malli.

On the other hand, pleading innocence, Sahu said that the allegations were baseless. “They are trying to frame me. The girls who have levelled charges against me are no more my students. They had left tuitions several months ago. Why have they lodged a complaint now?," he said.
