Jajpur: With the arrest of three persons, police today claimed to have busted an inter-state gang in Odisha's Jajpur district engaged in stealing trucks mostly parked on highways.

While three members of the gang were nabbed, three others escaped, Jajpur SP Deepak Kumar said.

A stolen truck, parts of a number of trucks, three mobile phones and some cash were seized from them.

The arrested have been identified as Nirod Das (50) of Cuttack Sadar, Abhisek Singh (25) of Sobara-Jajpur Road and Madan Ojha of Kanheipur in Jajpur district.

The accused, during interrogation, revealed that they have stolen 10 trucks from various locations on National Highways and other highways in and outside the state and disposed them of to scrap dealers in Kolkata, Bihar and Jharkhand.

"We rounded up Abhishek, driver of the stolen truck for questioning after which we picked up his friend Madan Ojha. On the basis of information provided by the two, we arrested Nirod Das," said the SP.

Efforts are on to arrest three other members of the gang, he said.
