Truck driver critical after accident on NH-60 in Odisha’s Balasore

A road accident was reported on National Highway-60 under Basta police limits in Balasore district on Saturday night, leaving a truck driver critically injured.

The accident occurred near Baulagadia when an unidentified vehicle allegedly collided with a moving truck, causing extensive damage to the vehicle. Following the impact, the truck was badly damaged.

The driver was trapped inside the cabin after the collision. With the help of local residents and emergency responders, he was rescued and shifted to Balasore Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Hospital sources said his condition remains critical.

Police personnel from Basta police station reached the spot after being informed and started an investigation into the incident. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and the identity of the other vehicle involved is not known.

Traffic movement on the highway was affected for some time and returned to normal after the damaged truck was removed. Police advised motorists to drive carefully, especially during night hours.
