Cuttack: At least five trains were delayed today after the cyclone-affected locals staged a rail roko between Kapilas Road and Nirgundi in Cuttack district protesting non-restoration of power supply in the area post Fani.

As per reports, Bhadrak-Bhubaneswar DMU, Puri Express, Nandankanan Express, Keonjar-Bhubaneswar passenger train, Bangriposi-Bhubaneswar passenger trains were left stranded on the tracks due to the rail roko by the enraged cyclone-hit locals.

However, train services resumed after the locals lifted the rail roko following assurance from the local administration to look into the issue.

Hundreds of villages of five cyclone-affected districts plunged into darkness due to the massive damage to the power sector caused by very severe cyclonic storm Fani which made a landfall near Puri on May 3. While power supply has been restored in some areas following a war footing restoration work, several villages are yet to be get electricity.
