In a tragic incident, two minor boys went missing after allegedly drowning in the Kathajodi River near Cuttack on Sunday. According to reports, the incident took place near Kulasarichua in 42mouza when the two boys aged around 11-12 years had gone to bath in the river at around 1 pm.
While taking a dip, they were reportedly swept away by the strong current and are yet to be traced.
Following the incident, local residents immediately alerted the authorities. A fire services team from the Chauliaganj area rushed to the spot and launched an intensive search operation to trace the missing minors. Rescue operations are still underway. If required, scuba divers will be engaged in the rescue efforts, sources added.
Preliminary information suggests that both missing boys are residents of Bastakundal village under Cuttack district.

Meanwhile, the tragic event has cast a pall of gloom over the area, with anxious family members waiting at the riverbank for any updates from rescue personnel.
