Tragedy at Balasore hospital: Doctor dies while attending patients

In a tragic incident at Nilagiri Hospital in Odisha’s Balasore district, a doctor died unexpectedly while attending to patients on Sunday morning. The deceased has been identified as Dr. Trinath Pal, a specialist in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department.

According to hospital sources, Dr. Pal was examining patients in the OPD when he suddenly complained of severe chest pain. He stepped into the washroom for a moment, but collapsed onto a bed nearby after returning from the washroom. Staff members immediately alerted emergency services.

He was rushed to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital in 108 ambulance, where attending doctors declared him dead. The sudden demise of the on-duty doctor has created a wave of shock and grief among colleagues, patients, and the local community.

Following the news, Balasore MP Pratap Sarangi visited the hospital and met the bereaved family members, offering condolences.

The hospital authorities have expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Dr. Pal as a dedicated and compassionate professional. The exact cause of death is yet to be formally confirmed, though initial reports point to a suspected cardiac arrest.

“The doctor went to the bathroom. As he did not return, we called him, but he did not respond. When we entered the bathroom, the doctor came out and soon collapsed onto a bed nearby. We immediately sent him to Balasore hospital in an 108 ambulance. But he died,” said Padmalochan Biswal, hospital security guard.

Balasore MP Pratap Sarangi said, “I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Dr Pal. May his family find the courage to bear this irreparable loss.”
