Traders from across globe come to Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The third Bhubaneswar Trade Fair is on at Janata Maidan in the capital city. More than 200 stalls are put up here by various businessmen from India and abroad.

Handicrafts, handlooms and interior design materials are attracting visitors in large numbers at the stalls. People are taking a close look at various crafts and other decorative items made by skilled craftsmen. Artisans from states like Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Maharashtra have also put up their handloom outlets.

“This is a unique trade fair where national and international craftsmen come together to display various items which are never seen in any other fairs. People of Bhubaneswar will surely like this fair and we are looking forward to attract more crowd this year,” said Payal Acharya Gupta from Gupta Event Management, the organizers of the event.

Selfie zone, kids play zone, baby ramp show and food court are some of the special attractions of this fair. Many trade organizations of the state have put up their counters here and different items starting from electronics to furniture are showcased and sold here by the participating traders.

International designer sarees from Pakistan and artificial flowers from Thailand are grabbing eye-balls of the visitors coming to this fair.

“We know that people here in Odisha wear sarees and in Pakistani sarees a different kind of fabric is used. These sarees are very affordable and easy to use,” said Delhi-based Shariq.

When asked about the impact of GST, Benjamin from Chennai said to, “There is some impact as people generaaly think that prices have gone up after the implementation but our items are very reasonable and it will not affect the consumers.”

The event also features a cultural show in the evening with some Ollywood celebrities attending the function. Differently abled performers are also showcasing their skills.

The trade fair that started on October 5 will conclude on October 15.
