Cuttack: The two-day long 58th Senior Police Officers' Conference of Odisha Police was inaugurated by the Director General of Police Sanjeev Marik here at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess in the morning today.

The meeting is chaired by DGP Sanjeev Marik and discussion on maintaining law and order and preventing crimes in the state are being held in the conference.

Besides, discussions on preparatory works for upcoming Nabakalebara and various schemes like Bachpan Bachao, Operation Smile and maoist problem in the state will be held in the two days long meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Marik said that providing good service to the weaker section of the society, especially the women and children, is the theme of the conference.

All the officers, basically in police station level should be properly sensitised and they should more responsive, he added.
Recently, in an attempt to provide security to missing children, the police have started a dedicated month-long campaign ‘Operation Smile’ in the state from January 1 to 31 this year.

During the campaign, children residing in shelter homes, platforms, bus stands, roads, religious places will be identified and they will be documented by trained personnel by taking photographs and shooting videos if necessary.

The particulars regarding identified children will be made available on the ‘Missing Child’ portal of Ministry of Women and Child Development. Besides, the information will be shared in print and electronic media under the scheme.
