Bhubaneswar: Two days after a private bank employee was arrested on charges of raping a lady lecturer, his mother and family members today staged dharna in front of Chandrasekharpur Police Station in Bhubaneswar accusing cops of being partial in their probe.

The banker's mother questioned under what grounds her son was put behind bars while the lady was released.

"Whatever happened between them was consensual then why only one person has been arrested by police? I want that girl to be arrested. If they won't arrest her, I will not leave this place," said the banker's mother.

The Commissionerate Police had arrested the lady, who is reportedly a lecturer of a private college and the bank official Sunil Prasad Mishra following rape and blackmail allegations levelled by them against each other respectively on Sunday. However, the lady was released later after being served notice under CrPC section 41(A), informed sources.

Three other persons, reportedly male friends of the lady, who were also arrested by police, have been forwarded to court along with Mishra.

Earlier on Friday, all of them were detained by the police for interrogation in connection with the matter. Later, two separated cases were registered against them on Saturday.

Sources said that both the lecturer and the bank employee had met each other through dating application Tinder. As per Sunil, both met at his residence some days back and had a consensual physical relationship and recorded some of their intimate moments.
