Three workers die in septic tank in Koraput

While the deceased mason has been identified as Ram Krishna Padhi, the labourers are Chaitanya Gadba and Daya Gadba.

Sources said Chaitany and Daya had entered a newly-constructed latrine tank in the Jayanagar area of the town to clean it. But when they didn`t return for a long time, Padhi entered inside the tank to check and he too didn`t returned.

"The trio was recovered by fire personnel in an unconscious condition and was rushed to Jeypore hospital where they were declared dead. As the latrine tank was left unclean and unused for a longtime since its construction, a poisonous gas was formed inside it and they died due to suffocation," police said.
