Rourkela: Three teenagers drowned while taking bath in the Brahmani river in the Kalinganagar area here on Thursday, the police said. Six teenagers from a slum, situated on the Durgapur hill range near Chhend, had gone for a bath in the river when shifting sands in the river bed pulled four of them into deeper waters.

While one of them managed to swim ashore, three persons drowned and their bodies were fished out with the help of local residents and fire brigade personnel. The deceased were identified as Somendra Nayak, a second year diploma student at a local engineering institute, Akash, who was waiting for his class ten result and Janmejaya, an ITI pass-out, they said. On May 8, two persons, belonging to Malgodown locality, died in a similar fashion at the same spot.
