Rourkela: Four days after the encounter between police and People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) rebels in neighboring Jharkhand, in which one member of the extremist group was killed, similar operation was conducted by Odisha police in the early hours of Saturday near Chandiposh under Rajgangpur police station. Three PLFI members, who were reportedly injured in the encounter, managed to flee.
 
"The combing operation is still on in the area. The security forces are still there and searching for the PLFI rebels. We will catch hold of them very soon," said Sanjeev Arora, SP, Sundergarh.
 
Police had information about the PLFI camp in Rajgangpur area. They conducted raid on late Friday night retaliating which the extremist group opened fire at security forces leading to a major gun battle. Three rebels of the group fell prey to police bullets and injured critically. Their camp has been destroyed in firing while police seized huge cache of explosives including 10 rifles and over 100 live cartridges from their possession. Efforts are on to nab the injured ultras, sources said.
 
The rebels had allegedly killed at least seven civilians in Sundergarh district and were planning to launch major violence in the district, sources added.
