Three killed, more than 20 injured in separate road mishaps in Odisha

Baripada/ Cuttack: At least three persons were killed and more than 20 persons injured in separate road mishaps across the State today.

In the first incident, two persons were killed and more than 20 sustained injuries after a pick-up van they were travelling in turned turtle at Kanheibandha- Dhanagera road under Udala police limits in Mayurbhanj district today. The deceased has been identified as Draupadi Khandel and Sulochana Biswal.

The mishap took place when the driver lost control and the speeding vehicle overturned resulting in death of the two persons at the spot. The injured were rushed to the Baripada hospital where condition of ten persons among them is stated to be critical.

According to sources, the mishap took place when the pick-up van carrying more than 40 passengers from Arabandha village was on its way to Athara Deula.

On receiving information police along with the SDPO reached the spot and initiated a probe into the incident.

In another incident a woman was killed and another person injured critically after a bike they were riding was hit by a truck on OMP overbridge in Cuttack.

The injured has been admitted to the SCB Medical and College in a critical condition.
