Kendrapara/Nayagarh/Jagatsinghpur: As many as four persons were killed while ten others sustained critical injuries in separate road mishaps in Kendrapara, Nayagarh and Jagatsinghpur districts today.

In Kendrapara, at least three persons were killed and five others sustained critical injuries after an SUV collided with a truck at Katia Chhak on Cuttack-Chandbali road due to poor visibility as dense fog blanketed most parts of the district.

While three of them died on the spot, the injured were rushed to hospital by the locals. The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, after receiving information police have reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

In another mishap, three persons suffered critical injuries after an ambulance they were travelling in met with an accident near Daspalla Dam chhak in Nayagarh district. All the injured were rushed to District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where they are currently undergoing treatment.

Sources said the ambulance was reportedly on its way to pick a patient when the mishap occurred.

In another incident, one person was killed while two others sustained critical injuries after the two-wheeler they were riding rammed into a tree near Rahadinga chhak on Jeypore road in Jagatsinghpur district.

The injured were rushed to district headquarters hospital (DHH), where they currently are undergoing treatment, informed sources.

Following the mishap, locals staged a road blockade demanding compensation for the kin of the deceased.
