Balasore: Tension ran high during Remuna Mahotsav in the district on Tuesday night after a clash broke out between two groups leaving three persons critically injured.

According to sources, an altercation ensued between two groups over some dispute at a cycle stand set up near the venue of the mahotsav which later turned into a clash.

As the situation turned ugly, the organisers of the mahotsav stopped the event and informed the matter to the police.

The situation was brought under control after a platoon of police was roped in to the spot. As many as ten persons were detained in connection with the incident.

Three persons who sustained injuries during the group clash were admitted to the local hospital.

In order to control the law and order, the administration has deployed three platoons of forces in the area.

“To ensure security and prevent hooliganism, police have intensified patrolling in the area. We are monitoring the situation to avoid further violence” said Remuna IIC (Inspector in charge), Gyana Mishra.
