Jajpur: Three persons were injured, one of them seriously after a gang of robbers opened fire on them near Sidhipura village on Neulpur-Chandikhole road in Jajpur district and looted cash, new clothes and gold jewellery at gun point, police sources said today.

The injured have been identified as Mudasar Nasir Khan, Wahid Khan and Shaik Arman of Neulpur, the sources said.

Mudasar along with two others were returning home in a car after purchasing new clothes and gold ornaments for his daughter`s marriage when the three motorcycle borne miscreants intercepted them near a play ground at Sidhipura and fired a couple of rounds from their gun late last night, they said.

While Mudasar sustained serious injuries as two bullets hit him, his accompanists Wahid and Arman sustained minor injuries.

"We have received an FIR from the father of Mudasar and registered a case. Seriously injured Mudasar has been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where doctors removed two bullets from his thighs after surgery. We also seized two more bullets from the vehicle. No one has been arrested so far. But, our effort is on to nab the culprits, said Suvendu Kumar Sinha , inspector-in-charge of Dharmasala police station.
