Three people died, and two others were critically injured in a road accident near Rajakana in Choudwar late on Monday night after a four-wheeler collided with a tanker.
According to reports, the four-wheeler was travelling towards Cuttack from Jajpur when it lost balance and hit the road divider. The vehicle is said to have crashed through the divider and subsequently collided with a tanker coming from the opposite direction. The impact was severe, causing extensive damage to the vehicle.
Rescue Operation
As per reports, five people were travelling in the four-wheeler, all of whom sustained critical injuries. While three of them died on the spot, the remaining two were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment.
Teams from NHAI ambulances, rescue units, and Tangi police reached the spot and carried out rescue operations. Due to the severity of the collision and the condition of the vehicle, it reportedly took nearly three hours to extract all the victims.
Investigation Underway
The identities of the five individuals have not been established at the time of reporting. An investigation was launched, and efforts are underway to identify both the deceased and the injured, according to sources. Authorities are examining the circumstances that led to the loss of control and the subsequent collision.

Officials are also assessing damage and collecting evidence from eyewitnesses to determine the exact sequence of events that resulted in the fatal crash, as sources further added.
