Paradip: Three persons accused of stealing oil after leaking the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) pipeline laid between Atharbanki and Nehru Bangala area of Paradip (Essarbeltline) were arrested by the Paradip Police today.

As per reports, a special team of Paradip Marine Police Station have arrested accused Rabindra Kumar Verma, Prasanna Mandal of Ramnagar village under Mahakalpada police limits of Kendrapara district and Kunjabihari Dalei of Nuagaon under Abhayachandpur police limits in Jagatsinghpur district on charges of stealing the oil. Another accused named Saroj Mallik from Madhuban area in Cuttack district remains absconding.

Police have seized a boat, pipe and a huge amount of diesel from their possession.

According to police sources, the four were unauthorisedly stealing oil after drilling the IOCL pipeline laid between Atharbanki and Nehru Bangala area of Paradip.

On February 24, a leakage of the pipeline causing spillage of diesel into the nearby river was noticed by local people who informed the matter to the police.
