Umerkote: Police have arrested three persons including a woman for allegedly duping several unemployed youths of lakhs of rupees by promising them lucrative jobs in Nabarangpur district.

The accused have been identified as Asish Patra, his wife Ranjana of Gulipatna Sahi in Umerkote area and Anil Kumar Banerjee of Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, the trio had opened offices under the name of National Human Rights Citizen Commission in Nabarangpur and Umerkote. They collected money ranging from Rs 40,000 to Rs 10 lakh per head from youths of Raighar, Umerkote, Jharigaon on the pretext of providing jobs.

While the accused had been running the job racket for the past four years, trouble mounted for them as some youths raised suspicion and recently lodged a complaint with the police.

Acting on the complaint, the police apprehended the trio and forwarded them to court.
