Thousands of devotees thronged Puri sea on Saturday to participate in the sacred Gobinda Dwadasi bath, an annual religious observance considered highly auspicious in the Hindu calendar.
Observed on the twelfth day (Dwadashi) of the bright fortnight of the month of Phalguna, Gobinda Dwadasi holds special spiritual significance. Devotees believe that taking a holy dip in the sea on this day brings spiritual purification and immense religious merit.
The event, organised by the Gobinda Dwadasi Committee, followed the tradition observed in previous years and witnessed large participation from pilgrims across the state and beyond.
Grand Procession from Emar Mutt
Marking the occasion, a grand procession was taken out from Emar Mutt, located in front of the Shri Jagannath Temple. The procession proceeded towards the sea, where devotees gathered in large numbers for the ceremonial bath.
The event was coordinated with the support of several religious and cultural organisations, including Shrikshetra Mathadhish Sebasangh, Sri Mandir Chhatisa Niyog, Aathasahi Akhada Milita Samanvay Samiti, Shri Jagannath Seva Sansthan, Paribartan Odisha, Vishwahindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, and other local service groups. The district administration also extended logistical support to ensure smooth conduct of the programme.

Devotional Fervour at Swargadwar
Swargadwar and adjoining beach areas witnessed heavy footfall as devotees offered prayers and sought the blessings of Lord Jagannath after the holy dip. The atmosphere was marked by devotional fervour, with chants and religious rituals adding to the spiritual ambience.
Gobindadwadasi continues to remain one of the significant religious observances in Puri, drawing thousands of devotees each year.
