An unusual natural spectacle has been unfolding along the Puri seashore in Odisha, where thousands of live sea snails have been spotted roaming the sandy stretch in recent days. The rare sight has drawn the attention of tourists and locals alike at Puri’s Niladri Sea Beach and the Blue Flag Beach.
According to observations, the sea snails arrive at the shore in large groups during the night, move across the sand, and then disappear back into deep waters within one to two hours after sunrise. Visitors have described the scene as mesmerising, noting that such activity had not been witnessed on the Puri beach earlier.
Rare Sight Along Puri Coast
Tourists visiting the popular beaches have expressed delight at witnessing thousands of live sea snails at once. The phenomenon has added to the natural charm of the coastline, prompting many visitors to stop and observe the movement of the snails during the early morning hours.
However, the exact reason behind such a large number of sea snails leaving deep waters and coming ashore remains unclear. It is not yet known whether the occurrence is linked to climate change or caused by some other natural factor.
