Thick blanket of fog in afternoon hits normal life in Paradip

Paradip: A thick blanket of fog enveloped Paradip town this afternoon affecting normal life and road traffic in the area.

The fog engulfed the town at around 3.30 PM creating uneasiness among commuters and motorists. Authorities of the town switched on the street lights as the visibility went down due to the fog, informed sources.

Cargo activities at the Paradip Port were also affected due poor visibility this afternoon. As per reports, as many as 150 fishermen on 10 boats are stranded in sea due to the dense fog.

“During the past 40 years, I have not seen such kind of fog in the afternoon in Paradip. Normal life has been affected due to the dense fog,” said Sushant, a resident of the town.

Foggy condition has been prevailing in Puri and Konark and the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack over the past few days. Meteorological sources said that the condition will prevail till January 24 and the visibility will be around 50-100 metres.
