Bhubaneswar: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to introduce 'Thali' system in Puri Jagannath temple after complaints from devotees that they are being overcharged for Mahaprasad.

As per reports, Mahaprasad will now be served at fixed rates.

"Prices of Mahaprasad for the devotees have been fixed at three different rates- Rs 70, Rs 80 and Rs 120 per thali based on the number of items. The temple administration along with the Suar and Mahasuara Nijog is yet to take a decision on the final rates and items. Once decided, the list of items and rates will be displayed in the temple," said Ananta Tiadi, member of SJTA.

Senior servitor Binayak Das Mohapatra said that the new system will ensure devotees get Mahaprasad at a fixed and convenient price.

"All measures will be taken towards serving of quality food to devotees. A grievance cell will also be opened where devotees can submit their complaints, said Das Mohapatra, adding that all the complaints will be resolved on the spot.
