Puri: Tension erupted in Gopalpur village near Puri after body of a seven-year-old boy was recovered from a drain today.

According to reports, the deceased Ganesh Nayak had gone to the market to buy some stuff but did not return home. Later, his body was found floating in a drain.

Subsequently, agitating locals placed body of the deceased on Puri-Konark road and staged blockade demanding adequate compensation for the kin of Ganesh.

The agitators blamed the district administration for the boy's death saying that the open drain led to the tragedy.

After getting information, police rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the agitating mob. As per latest information, Sub-Collector reached the spot and announced Rs 10,000 compensation for the kin of the deceased.
