Pattamundai: Tension prevails in Pattamundai area following the kidnapping and murder of 13-year-old school boy Rajkumar of Praharajpur village under Kendrapara district.

Protesting against the shocking incident, the Pattamundai Merchants’ Association has been observing bandh in Pattamundai area since Thursday after the incident came to light.

The association carried out rally in the district on Friday and demanded Rs. 20 lakh compensation for the family of the deceased and strong action against the accused.

Activists of Biju Chatra Janata Dal too voiced their support and carried out a mashal rally from Kendrapara college square to Tini muhani square.

The body of the class VII student, Rajkumar, who went missing since Monday, was found at Hansina river near Rajnagar in the district on Thursday. Police seized the body floating in the river with hands and legs tied.

Parents of the victim alleged in their complaint that some miscreants abducted their son and demanded Rs 5 lakh over phone for his safe release.

However, the entire story behind the murder came to the light after police arrested five accused including the main accused Siba Prasad Rout from Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
