A brutal case of alleged assault and robbery near the RTO Office Square area under the Jagatsinghpur Sadar Police Station limits has rocked the district.
Reports indicate that a tenant allegedly attacked his house owner, Ramakrushna Mohanty, with deadly weapons and looted gold ornaments before fleeing the scene.
The incident reportedly took place at around 11:30 pm on Thursday. Ramakrushna lived near Sampur RTO Square along with his wife and unmarried daughter. Eyewitnesses and preliminary reports suggest that he sustained over twelve severe injuries on his face, back, and other parts of his body.
He was immediately taken to the Jagatsinghpur District Headquarters Hospital for initial treatment and subsequently shifted to Cuttack for advanced medical care due to the severity of his injuries.

Investigations have revealed that the accused tenant is originally from Nimapada area in Puri district and works in Paradip. The victim’s family, who remain at the hospital with him, have not yet been able to file an official complaint at the police station due to the ongoing medical emergency, said sources.
The incident has shaken the local community, leaving residents fearful and alarmed over the rising violent crime.
