Temperatures dipped further across Odisha, with the Bonai region of Sundargarh district experiencing a fresh spell of cold weather. Dense fog coupled with low temperatures mildly affected daily activities on Sunday, as several areas in Bonai continued to record minimum temperatures below 11°C.
According to reports, the main town area of Bonai did not experience the same intensity of cold and fog as seen in the peripheral regions. Outlying areas witnessed significantly thicker fog and sharper cold, leading to reduced visibility and slower early-morning movement.
Residents Adjust to Foggy Mornings
Despite the prevailing chill, many residents were seen jogging, walking, and exercising early in the morning. Locals shared their experiences of navigating the dense fog.
One resident said travelling had become difficult and at times unsafe due to poor visibility. “I was out to buy vegetables, but the journey took longer than usual because fog conditions were denser outside the town,” he added.
Another resident noted that the cold wave continued to persist, saying people still relied on tea to start their mornings as visibility dropped considerably.
A vegetable farmer also remarked, “The dense fog made commuting risky, but travelling remains necessary to sustain our livelihood.”

Daily Activities Slightly Affected
While life did not come to a standstill, the dense fog and persistent cold slowed morning routines and prompted increased caution among residents, reports said. Locals in fog-hit pockets continue to adapt to the winter conditions as temperatures remain low across the region.
