Bhubaneswar: Telangana Chief Minister and TRS President K. K. Chandrashekar Rao, also known as KCR,is scheduled to meet Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today. KCR is scheduled to arrive in Bhubaneswar in the evening and meet Patnaik at the latter’s residence and is likely to spend the night at Naveen Niwas.

KCR along with his family will visit Konark and have a darshan of Lord Jagannath in Puri tomorrow.

The proposed visit has sparked speculation over a new political equation in the form of an alliance of non-BJP and non-Congress parties or front in the country ahead of the crucial 2019 elections.

The opposition attacked Naveen Patnaik over new political equation while the ruling BJD termed KCR’s visit as purely a ‘courtesy’ visit.

“The visit is totally personal and there is no political motive behind the visit. It’s a courtesy visit with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik,” BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra said.

OPCC chief Niranjan Patnaik said that ahead of the upcoming polls, there wills such kind of meetings till February 2019 between leaders of several parties in the State.

“This is not a new thing in politics as there are instances in the past where Naveen Patnaik has taken support from other parties even though BJD claims to maintain equidistant from other parties,” said Odisha BJP vice president Samir Mohanty.

It is pertinent to mention here that Telangana CM had also held consultations with former prime minister and JD(S) chief H D DeveGowda as per his plans to forge an alternative front in the past. After meeting Odisha CM, KCR will also meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata.
