A schoolteacher from Bargarh district lost his life in a tragic railway accident at Jharsuguda Railway Station on Tuesday. The deceased named B. Shibashankar from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, was serving as a teacher at Navaprabhat Vidyapith in Nuapali under Melchhamunda police limits.
Foot Slips While Boarding Jnaneshwari Express
According to reports, Shibashankar had arrived at Jharsuguda Railway Station to board the Jnaneshwari Express for his journey back to Raipur. While attempting to board the moving train, his foot slipped, causing him to fall onto the track. The sudden fall left him critically injured.
Locals Tried to Save Him
Eyewitnesses and local commuters rushed to rescue him immediately after the mishap. Despite their efforts, Shibashankar had succumbed to his injuries before help could arrive. The incident triggered a wave of shock among passengers present at the station.
Railway Police Register Case
Upon receiving information, the Railway Police reached the spot, seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. Following the examination, the remains were handed over to the victim’s family. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of boarding moving trains and highlights the need for stricter safety measures at railway stations.
