The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) – Bhubaneswar Chapter successfully organised a Panel Discussion on “Union Budget: 2026–27” at CMA Bhawan, Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar, drawing enthusiastic participation from professionals, members and students. The programme witnessed active engagement and thoughtful discussions on the country’s latest fiscal roadmap.
The event was graced by Rajesh Kumar Mishra, IRS, Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeal–2), as the Chief Guest, while CMA Damodar Mishra, Vice-Chairman, ICMAI–Eastern India Regional Council, attended as the Guest of Honour. Their presence added significance and depth to the proceedings.
Expert Panel Offers In-Depth Budget Analysis
The technical deliberations were led by CA Arun Kumar Sabat, renowned Tax Expert and Budget Analyst, and CMA Sushil Kumar Panda, Practising Cost Accountant. As panellists, they provided a comprehensive analysis of the Union Budget 2026–27, with a focus on taxation reforms, economic growth, fiscal policy and its implications for industry and professionals.
Leadership Perspectives and Professional Relevance
CMA Sarat Kumar Behera, Chairman, ICMAI–Bhubaneswar Chapter, delivered the Welcome Address, underlining the Union Budget as a crucial policy document and emphasizing the role of Cost Accountants in nation-building and economic governance. The programme was effectively facilitated by CMA Barada Prasan Nayak, Chairman of the Professional Development Committee.
In his address, the Chief Guest appreciated the analytical role played by professional bodies like ICMAI in disseminating budget awareness and fostering informed discussions among stakeholders.
Interactive Session Enriches the Programme
An interactive question-and-answer session further enriched the deliberations, allowing participants to engage directly with the panellists and gain clarity on key budgetary provisions and their practical implications.
The programme concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks proposed by CMA Soumya Ranjan Jena, Secretary of the Chapter. Attended by around 130 members, students and stakeholders, the event reaffirmed the ICMAI–Bhubaneswar Chapter’s commitment to professional excellence and its meaningful contribution to economic discourse and policy understanding.
