Suspected Bangladeshi youth ‘kidnaps minor girl’ in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur

A written complaint was lodged at Sadar Police Station alleging that a minor girl had been kidnapped by a youth suspected to be a Bangladeshi national. According to the family, the girl was allegedly abducted from Dihasahi in Jagatsinghpur district, prompting an immediate police inquiry, sources said on Friday.

The family members have further claimed that they were threatened with being blown up with explosives if they attempted to intervene or report the incident. Police have registered a case and initiated a search operation to trace the minor and identify the accused.

Officials stated that verification of the accused youth’s identity and nationality is underway, and efforts are being intensified to ensure the safe recovery of the girl. The alleged threats have heightened the investigation's urgency, with security measures reportedly being strengthened around the victim’s residence.

“My daughter studies in the Plus II class. A Muslim youth had been working in Kaduapada. On December 2, she had gone to her college in the morning at around 10.00 AM. After returning from the workplace, I asked my wife whether my daughter had returned home. She said ‘no’. Suspecting foul play, I went to the college,” the father of the girl said.

“Principal of the college confirmed to me that my daughter had not gone to the educational institution on the intervening day. Immediately, I went to Jagatsinghpur Sadar Police Station and lodged an FIR in this regard,” the man stated.

“I also provided the accused’s mobile number to the police. When tracked, his location showed at Murshidabad (Bihar). Then, Sadar police told me that local cops would not support them as a clash is going on there between two factions,” the victim’s father expressed.
