Sura Baba charged with sexual assault once again

Bhubaneswar: Controversial self-styled Godman Sura Baba alias Surendra Mishra arrested in 2015 for allegedly indulging in various illegal activities has once again landed in soup after being booked over sexual harassment charges.

According to sources, a woman of Belaguntha area in Ganjam district has alleged that she was sexually exploited by Sura at his Trahi Achyuta ashram situated in the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on January 24 earlier this year.

In her complaint lodged at Balipatna police station, the young woman claimed that her fiance Deep Sundar Swain, a resident of Trahi Achyuta Nagar along with his mother took her to the ashram at around 3 am on January 24,on pretext of performing puja where Sura allegedly outraged her modesty. The woman has also named her fiancé and his mother as accused in the FIR.

Acting on the complaint, the police today raided the ashram to interrogate Sura in connection with the sexual assault charges.

It may be noted that the self-styled Godman was released from Jharpada Special Jail here in December, 2017, two years after getting arrested following series of allegations of sexual exploits.
