Sudarsan Pattnaik bags Moscow Choice prize

Moscow/Bhubaneswar: Odisha-born international sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik, who participated in the World Sand Sculpture Championship -2013 held in Moscow,   won the Moscow Choice prize by creating a sand sculpture of Lord Ganesh, the dispeller of obstacles and the symbol of world peace.
 
It was announced by the authorities of Kolomenskoe Museum Reserve in Moscow on Sunday evening where the championship was held. The competition started from April 22 to 28, a press release said.
 
“Now a days the violence increases in every part of globe. So, I have created Lord Ganesh for World Peace”, Pattnaik said.
 
He carved around 12ft high sculpture in the championship. The theme of the competition was “Secret of the World”. There are 10 countries participated in this competition and Sudarsan was the solo representative from India.
 
 In the prize giving ceremony, the Sculptor Choice prize was won by Ukrain artist while People’s Choice prize went to a Russian artist.
 
Pattnaik had earlier achieved many international prizes including the World Championship title and more than 10 time People’s Choice prizes by representing India in many countries. He always sends messages to the public by creating awareness campaign through sand art.
