The fourth installment of financial assistance under Odisha government’s ambitious Subhadra Yojana will be released on Sunday. The disbursement is expected to benefit lakhs of women beneficiaries across the state.

More than 1 crore 2 lakh women will receive the fourth installment under the scheme. The government will transfer over Rs 5,000 crore directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The funds will be credited to beneficiaries’ accounts on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

2.13 Lakh New Beneficiaries Added

Deputy CM Pravati Parida said around 2 lakh 13 thousand 198 new beneficiaries have been included in the scheme and will receive financial assistance in this phase. Among them, 36 thousand 385 women were added through the grievance redressal process. Including these additions, the total number of beneficiaries under the scheme stands at over 1 crore 2 lakh.

She also said that the newly added beneficiaries include young women who have turned 21 and are receiving their first instalment under the scheme. These beneficiaries are referred to as “Yuva Subhadra”.

Beneficiary List to Remain Dynamic

According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the Subhadra beneficiary list will remain dynamic and will be updated regularly. Women who attain the age of 21 will be added to the list, while those who cross 60 will be moved from the Subhadra beneficiary list to the pension list under other social welfare programmes.

The Subhadra Yojana, launched by the Government of Odisha, aims to strengthen the financial independence of women by providing them with direct financial assistance. The fourth installment is expected to benefit a large number of households and further empower women across the state.
