Students unrest continues in Ravenshaw

Cuttack: Students unrest continued in Ravenshaw University for the second day on Monday with a group hostelites resuming their dharna demanding safety and security from anti-social elements in the locality.

They continued their dharna, launched on Sunday, outside the office of the registrar, who they alleged had stonewalled every adminsitrative decision taken by the vice-chancellor for the students.

The students are protesting against the attack on some inmates of a boys hostel inside the campus on Saturday night by outsiders who allegedly entered at the behest of other students of the University.

The attackers went on the rampage and damaged the hostel properties injuring those who tried to resist. Students have alleged that several outsiders were even illegally occupying hostel rooms.
"We have taken a decision to remove all outsiders and unauthorized occupants from the hostels within 24 hours," university authorities said.
