Bhubaneswar: The aspiring candidates will file their nominations papers in various colleges and universities today for the students’ union elections scheduled to be held on October 11.

The students can file their nominations between 9 am to 12 pm while scrutiny of the papers will be done between 2 pm and 4 pm today, reports said.

Meanwhile, the aspiring candidates in many colleges and universities including Rama Devi Women's University, Maharishi College of Natural Law and Rajdhani College in Bhubaneswar are all set to file their nomination for the polls.

Candidates are allowed to withdraw their names by October 4 after which the final list of candidates will be published on the same day, said a notification earlier issued by the Higher Education Department.

The ‘Why I stand for’ meeting will be held on October 10 and the polling will be conducted the next day between 8 am and 2 pm.

The notification added counting of votes and announcement of names of the victorious candidates will be on October 11. The oath taking ceremony of elected students' representatives will be held on October 12.

Meanwhile, students’ union polls have been cancelled in seven educational institutions including Ravenshaw, Utkal and Sambalpur universities following unrest in the campuses.
