Students go violent in NMIT

Bhubaneswar: Infuriated over the death of a girl student of NM institute of technology (NMIT), hundreds of students ransacked the college campus on the outskirts of the city on Monday night. Students alleged that Sudeshna  Saha, a first year student at NMIT committed suicide after she was mentally tortured over the collection of college fees.

The college administration sought the help of the police to tackle the hostile situation but angry students continued their rampage in front of the police almost for two hours.

Students lay the dead body in front of the college main gate and orchestrated candle light protest chanting slogans to arrest the concerned officials.

A case has been registered in the Khandagiri police station. The Police have so far arrested the 1st year dean of the college Bhagirathi Mallick following the incident.
