Student molested by teacher: BJD women's wing takes up cudgel in her support

Sambalpur: The Sambalpur district unit of the BJD’s women wing today met the SDPO and demanded immediate arrest of a teacher, who is accused of molesting a Class 7 girl student in Muhalapali area under Kuchinda sub-division.

As per the complaint filed by the girl, the English teacher of her school asked her to collect some vegetables and followed the girl to the store room where he molested her The girl narrated her ordeal before the school headmaster and family members, following which a police complaint was filed.

Soon after, the accused teacher went absconding and continues to be at large. Activists of the BJD women's wing who met the SDPO today demanded immediate arrest of the accused.

"We demand immediate arrest of the accused and police protection for family members of the girl," BJD leader Rajalaxmi Paradhan said.

"A case has been filed against the English teacher and investigation has already begun into the incident. The accused is still at large,” said Mahulpali police station IIC Sudam Mallick.
