Bhubaneswar: The agitating nursing students of SCB medical college and hospital, Cuttack on Tuesday called on Health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and submitted a memorandum seeking removal of their principal Kajal Rani Sinha from the helm of the school.

The students of the School of Nursing threatened to launch a 24x7 dharna if the government fails to address their issues.

They are on strike for the last 15 days demanding action against Sinha accusing her of harassing them physically and mentally.

“We demand that the principal, who had passed casteist remarks on the students must either be suspended or transferred from the institution. Besides, the sine die should be lifted from our school,” an agitating student said.

They also stated that the government should refrain from making false promises.

“Almost a fortnight ago, we had met Additional Health Secretary Sanjay Tarai. He had assured us to resolve the issue within a couple of days. But no action has been taken so far on this matter,” rued another student.

The agitating students have already submitted separate memorandums to Collector NC Mishra and Superintendent of SCB Medical College and Hospital.
