Bhubaneswar: Day after the bloody battle with security force, the block grant lecturers and employees association on Saturday decided to launch casework in all 488 category colleges demanding immediate release of lecturers who were arrested on Friday during the protest near State Assembly.

The association also demanded withdrawal of Sections imposed against them in the cases failing which they would boycott the upcoming +2 and +3 examination.

The decision came after they rejected the government proposal of revised pay scales for the teaching and non-teaching staff under the block grant mode which they term an illusion for the private college teachers. They alleged that government is trying to cheat the striking lecturers.

A number of agitating lecturers were arrested while triying to enter state Assembly by breaking police cordon on Friday during a demonstration. Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the strikers in which many agitators were injured.

Notably, the block grant lecturers and employees association has been on strike for last 30 days demanding pay parity.
