State to recruit 17543 sikshya sahayaks

Bhubaneswar: With a large number of posts for teachers remaining vacant in different primary schools for a long time, Odisha government today decided to appoint 17,543 sikshya sahayaks(SS) including some in Urdu, Telegu and Bengali languages. This was decided at a high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence, official sources said here.

"Required notifications in this regard will be soon issued by different district collectors," said School and Mass Education Minister Pratap Jena. The chief minister has asked the mass education department to impart primary education to students in their mother tongues, Jena said sikshya sahayaks would be appointed for Bengali, Telegu and Urdu.The concerned district collectors would decide the number of language teachers to be appointed, Jena added.
