Bhubaneswar: In a bid to streamline manning at the tollgates across Odisha, the state government on Monday said it would modernize seven unified toll gates under public-private partnership (PPP) mode.

“Modernisation would be done at the tollgates in Girishola, Jamashola Ghat, Kerada, Sumki, Birahandi, Gobindpur and Nalada,” said Finance Minister Prasanna Acharya during question hour.

According to the minster, while modernisation at Loharachati check gate was over, some more time would be needed to complete work at the Laxmannath check gate.

Responding to a query the finance minister said that the PPP mode work would be completed within the stipulated time.

Opposition Congress when tried to nail the ruling BJD on the rising corruption by officials at these gates, the minister said that the state government had implemented new transfer rules under which no official could stay at a gate for more than two years.
