Bhubanaswar: In a bid to strengthen the security measures in the factories running in the state, the state government announced to set up an independent security force- Orissa Industrial Security Force (OISF)- of its own, official sources informed on Friday.

The state government would also form a specialized wing- Economic Offence Wing (EOW)- that would probe into cases related to economic offences or frauds.

The announcement was made on Thursday in the state assembly by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik as a part of the investment proposal approved by the state government.

OISF would aim at tackling serious security related issues in the industries residing in urban and rural areas and also in Maoist-infested districts of the state.

This independent security force would provide security to the industries from any type of untoward situation arising due to either internal or external influences.

However, Former DG of Police Gopal Nanda has asked to provide special training to produce skilful and active security personnel.

“There is a need for such security forces. Even the industries running in the state are willing to spend for such a specialized security. For this, they are in the need of the state government’s help to tackle such issues,” Former DG of Police Gopal Nanda said.
