Bhubaneswar: In a bid to boost the Micro Small & Medium Enterprise sector, Odisha government has decided to organize a MS & ME trade fair during first fortnight of January, official sources said.

The decision in this regard was taken at a high level meeting where it had been decided to felicitate big industries which undertake maximum purchase from small and micro units operating in the state.

Railways, Defense, Central and State PSUs and other large scale industries will also be invited to participate in the fair. The Fair will focus on marketing, technology, product quality, credit availability and related aspects of MS&ME growth, said Special Secretary of ME&ME Panchanan Das.

It has been proposed to organize the trade fair from January 1, 2013 to January 15. Chief Secretary B K Patnaik who chaired the meeting has suggested the department to develop a logo for the purpose.

An Apex Committee will be formed under chairmanship of Chief Secretary and one Organizing Committee will be formed under the Chairmanship of Special Secretary MS&ME to look in to different aspects of the Fair.

A number of MS&ME units have grown up in the sectors like Food Park, Agro Processing units, Plastic, Steel, Automobile, Steel ,Chemicals, Mineral, Electronics, Handicrafts, Gems and Jewelry in the state.

"Many others are in pipe line," Das said adding that steps are being taken for establishment of Almunium Park at Angul, Plastic Park at Paradeep, Timber Processing Unit at Paradeep and IT Incubation Center in notified SEZ (info-valley ).

Other important projects initiated include Integgrated Textile Park with Testing Laboratory and Certification Center near Bhubnaeswar, Mega Food Park at Rayagada, Sector Specific SEZ at Paradeep, IT Towers at Mancheswar, ITES Corporate Towers at Chandaka, Flori Culture Export Center, Dry Spice Technology & Skill Development Center, Hard Ware and Electronics Park near Bhubaneswar.

Marine Food Processing Park near Bhadrakh, World Trade Center at Bhubaneswar and Special Investment Region in Dhamara Port area. "Theses projects have ample opportunities for emergence of Micro Small & Medium Scale Industries," he said.
