State mulls to appoint more contractual nurses

Bhubaneswar: To deal with the already hit health services in the state due to the agitation of contractual nurses at government hospitals that entered ninth day on Monday, the state government is mulling to appoint more number of contractual nurses. On the other hand, the State Nursing Association said it will decide on the next course of action looking at the situation.

State health minister Prasanna Acharya on Sunday said, “We are in the process of appointing new contractual nurses and it will be completed soon.”

The contractual nurses have been demanding permanent jobs and salary at par with the permanent nurses.
