Bhubaneswar: Speculation is rife over reshuffle at ministerial level.

Buzz has it that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is likely to induct or drop few ministers as there has been no reshuffle in the third term of the Naveen-led BJD government.

Sources reveal, chief minister is likely to make some changes in the portfolios in the coming month when it completes two years. During the last tenure, BJD supremo had effected reshuffle after two years of governance. Going by that logic, chief minister might go for restructuring at ministerial level.

In January, chief minister had brushed aside any possibility of reshuffle. However, today’s statement fuelled speculation.

“There are no plans for that at the moment,” chief minister had said in January.

“When it happens, you will be the first to know,” chief minister said today.

The state government, in the recent past, was in for severe criticism from several quarters over alleged scams and tardy progress in the implementation of developmental programmes owing to non utilization of funds.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who has promoted transparency and clean governance, is likely to do away with non performing ministers. It may be recalled that former Women and Child Development Minister Pramila Mallick had to step down following allegations of misappropriation in purchase and supply of substandard pulses meant for mid-day meal scheme and supplementary nutrition programme for pregnant women.
