Jajpur: National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) chairman Rameswar Oraon today visited Kalinga Nagar steel hub in the district to assess condition of the scheduled tribes displaced by different steel plants.
 
Accompanied by two other members of the commission K Kamalakumari and B L Mina, Oraon, now on a nine-day tour to Odisha, visited Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL), the lone public sector steel mill, in Kalinga Nagar.
 
Oraon heard many displaced and affected scheduled tribe persons who expressed their dissatisfaction over facilities being provided to them.
 
Kandia Purty who has been displaced by a steel industry and now residing at Gobarghati transit colony narrated before the NCST chairman as to how he is a victim the company apathy.
 
"I gave up my land and am unable to eke out a living. Even two decades after giving up my land, the company has not provided me a job. I am running from pillar to post," he alleged.
